Disgusted, absolutely disgusted!!

I went on our monthly bottle run...
to the bottle bin by the Salle des Fêtes in Grand Pressigny this afternoon.
On my arrival I was greeted by this mess....

The signage here is in English
NO LITTER

Some Anglais had left ALL their holiday rubbish between the bin for glass...
and the bin for paper.
How do I know that these lazy people are from the UK...
look at these...

The pink at the back is the House of Fraser bag mentioned below....

I got rid of what I could...

Over fifty bottles for a start...
a lot of them bought on the ferry over...
other stuff brought with them from the UK...
especially the spirit bottles with UK Duty Paid stickers...
the Asda "Bag for Life" in the second picture was one of two...
but the biggest bag of bottles was a House of Fraser one...
with a receipt at the bottom...
from the Skipton branch!!
Skipton is in Yorkshire....
and they own property here...
or know someone who does...
they had thrown some stuff there in yellow SMITCOM recycling sacks!

But it wasn't just the bottles...
there was a broken mirror...
a lot of soggy cardboard boxes...
another plastic shopping bag...
full of ends of bread...
two sacks of general household rubbish...
if I had the time, I'd open those two and see if I could find a name!!
But I haven't got any 'Elf and Safety' kit to protect me...

We had enough of that laziness....
that outright carelessness....
and that anti-social behaviour in Leeds...
it is what we moved away from...
so, fellow Brits...
take your rubbish with you next time...
better still...
stay away from Grand Pressigny!!

I am really ashamed to come from the same part of the UK!!
What you see above is the side of Not-so-great Britain...
that Le Tour was probably shielded from!!

We moved from Buckinghamshire to Wales to be away from that kind of thing, pleased to say everyone is very considerate around here, its a shame it couldnt be packed up and sent back to Skipton

Well done for cleaning up the mess from those disrespectful English people. I've never had to clear up rubbish like this, but I have felt the need to apologise to French people after English 'friends' (ex friends now I am pleased to say)have been thoroughly rude to them, both by attitude and vocal expressions!

Well done for clearing up. Awful mess and they should be thoroughly ashamed.

The contents of the pile of rubbish suggest second home owners. Or possibly someone renting a gite where the cleaning of it on leaving is part of the deal.
The village could make this kind of thing less likely by providing public bins for people departing from holiday. The rubbish collection is overnight on Wednesday so we always had more rubbish to deal with by the time we left on a Sunday and there is nowhere in the village to put it. The only public bins are the glass recycling bins.
We could leave recycling in the cellar until our next visit but the black bin was always a problem. We could usually take it with us but not everyone can. We sometimes had to carry a smelly bag of rubbish in the car a long way before we could find somewhere acceptable to leave it, such as a bin at a motorway services.
There are bins down by the football ground which we found eventually and we left our bag their for the last few years, but we had no idea whether we were allowed to as there are no signs saying if they were for public use, we just used to sneak in and leave quickly, just in case! There were certainly no signs in the village directing people to them.
There are public bins in Paulmy so it's no longer a problem for us.

Perhaps a word with the Maire of GP would be the right thing to do.
All gite owners, be they of French or other nationality, need to be aware and the Mayor could perhaps alert them as well as displaying a notice in French and English.
WELL DONE YOU for doing the disgusting clear up! I am sometimes very ashamed of some people from my country of birth.

........having said what I said before, it looks like these people made no effort to get anything in that week's rubbish collection, just saved it up and dumped it for some other poor soul to deal with. Shame on them.

Word has it that they are in fact from Ilkley...
and, unfortunately, are regular renters of a property up near the "Hebergement" in GP.
RiF... there are notices there in French and English...
and the décheterie takes just this sort of rubbish and is open three half-days a week and all of Saturday...
there is NO excuse...

This is how I feel when I travel and see N. Americans doing/saying stupid things. Bless you for cleaning after them.
